Pick Your Own Strawberries FAQ
Please see our Store and COVID-19 policies

How do I get to the pick your own strawberry fields?
Our pick your own fields are at a separate location from our main orchard salesroom. The fields are located 4 miles north of our main orchard salesroom off of County Road 7. Check out our map.

Do I need to bring my own container for picking?

No, we will provide a picking container (free of charge) for you that is easy to carry and will withstand wet fields. They will hold around 10 lbs of berries, but are optimized for 5 - 6 lbs without affecting the bottom berries in the box.  This year only new boxes will be used.

Why are the pick your own fields only open in the morning?
Usually, in the heat of the day, it is uncomfortable for you as well as the plants. We also need to do orchard maintenance to keep the plants cool and to maintain the quality of the fields for our customers. Call the berry line at 651.429.8026 to get the daily and anticipated weekly hours. Also, please remember that all hours are weather permitting. We will pick in a light rain, but not in a downpour or lightening.

What if I don't know how to pick?
That's alright! We understand that not everyone has picked strawberries before and some people need a little refresher from year to year. When you arrive at our field a member of our knowledgeable staff will inform you about where and how to pick.

What is the best way to clean and store my strawberries?
If your container is not too full, leave the berries as they are and put them directly into the refrigerator. If you got a little carried away, gently transfer berries to a shallow container and refrigerate. Strawberries like to have enough room so that they can breathe. Do not rinse or wash the strawberries until you are ready to use them. Additionally, keep the green top and stem on for a longer shelf life.

Do you sell bakery products in the pick your own fields?

Of course! Although, there is a more limited quantity and there are some products that do not do well in the heat. Because the pick your own strawberry fields are a separate location, availability will change daily. On a typical day, we will have Strawberry Rhubarb Rollovers, Strawberry Donuts and Muffins, Shortcake biscuits, Strawberry Angel Food Cake, and Swirl Pound Cake. You can always stop at the checkout before picking if you are worried about missing out on a certain product. Fresh Strawberry Pies, Strawberry Rhubarb Pies and a variety of our frozen products are only available in our main salesroom, and you can also find all the previously stated products as well. To reserve a pie for pick up in our main salesroom, please call 651.429.6577

Are strawberries all you grow here?
No. Strawberries are the only thing we grow and have for sale in the summer. Beginning in August we will have apples ready for harvest and then in September and October we grow pumpkins and have a corn maze. Our apple season runs from mid-August through February. Visit our apple page for variety information and other related questions.

How much do the strawberries cost and how do I pay for them?
We charge $3.25 per pound (2023) cost for pick your own strawberries.   If we pick them for you the cost is in the range of (2023) $5.49 per pound. When you arrive at the strawberry patch you will check in and receive your picking boxes. You will pay when you return to the checkout. Our scales are set so that you do not pay for the box, just the berries that you pick. As far as payment options, we prefer you pay with a credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

Can kids pick strawberries?
Yes! Picking your own strawberries is a great experience for the whole family; we just ask that all children are supervised by an adult. There are a variety of pickers, some serious and some for fun, so we ask that you respect the other customers as well as the strawberry plants. We put in a lot of hard work to make our fields an enjoyable place for everyone.

Are pets allowed in the strawberry fields?
No. For the enjoyment of others and for the sanitation of the fields we ask that pets stay home or in the car.

What variety are the strawberries?
We are growing a June-bearing strawberry, which means the plants fruit continuously for 3 to 4 weeks. The main variety we grow is the Jewel.
